What a winner-- and a GIVE AWay!!!

Despite a trip to the dentist and a large filling that made me feel sorry for myself -- I was cheered up when I received an email to say that I had won a Cratsy class courtesy of  Katie  At Swim, Bike,Quilt.!!!!

She has just launched her yearly drive for quilts for children and has some great prizes to win. I am going to donate  disappearing 9 patch I have just made and just have to finish binding It. You can see her post on her blog.

I already have some crafty classes which I have dipped in and out of but to be given the chance to choose a new one for free!!!  Well I just couldn't make up my mind which one to have - particularly as I get really tempted by the art quilt ones BUT I decided to go for a more traditional class and decided on Quilting Quickly II by Jenny Doan.

I have watched a lot of her U Tube videos but now I can watch a range of classes which showcase her approach using ready cuts.  I have already watched her class on Drunkards Path and I am itching to start one!

As I have been lucky this week I thought I would have a Give Away!!! BUT it it is only for UK followers as it is  for the Festival of Quilts at Birmingham on the 8th - 11th-August.  I have two spare tickets for any day at the festival so if you can get there just leave a comment telling me what would be the highlight of the show for you.  I will make the  draw on Friday 2 nd August and post them to the winner by first class post.

As we have continued to have such HOT weather I have been machine embroidering this week as well as doing some crocheting.   I made this sweet little birth sampler from a pattern at Kwiwi Kreations for my good friend's daughter who has had her second baby  and also the little boots which
she loved so much for her first baby.

I have also made a couple of XMas items but these are for the Santa Sack Swap so I can't show them just yet.

Off on a short break next week to the coast so hope the weather stays warm and will be taking my crocheting and hexis projects with me.

Summer sewing

I've been away in our caravan quite a bit during July so I have  not got around to posting any pictures of my sewing projects. I have finished the top  of the second apple core and just need  to layer it and quilt it - probably in simple wavy lines with my walking foot.

I made a Xmas table centre at my quilt group from the Australian Patchwork & Quilting magazine and have started a second one - this has to be one of my favourite magazines as there is always something I want to make. There is also a new  sampler quilt project

using an oriental type print and lost of bright oranges and greens so a bit different for me! - I've made 5 blocks so far as they are good to do by hand.

We had a great week in the Lake District with the hottest weather I have ever known and it is still very warm and sunny so not the sort of weather for toiling over a hot sewing machine  but much nicer to do something by hand while sitting in the garden.

So my other new  hand sewing project is using another Sissix die I bought on holiday - this time the tumbler shape. I have it all cut out in coffee and cream shades but have not started putting it together yet.

I have been getting some lovely postcards from my swap group and also one from a one to one swap which Sheila at Sheila's Quilt World organised.  They are so different and original and really brighten up the postman's day!

We are away again soon so will have plenty of opportunity to keep up the hand sewing - and then be back to machine quilt the tops I have finished.

I also delivered a bed runner I made to order - it was embroidered using some of  my favourite quilt patterns and was so successful that I have  been asked to make two pillow shams to go with it.

So hoping for more sunny weather but perhaps not so hot!!!

bye for now-- Pauline
