Spring Blues!

Hi everyone

I returned from a few days away in our new caravan to try it out- to find a large parcel from Danette in the USA
It was my package from the Colour Swap organised by wonderful Cheryll at GoneStitchin.  Guess my colour ???   BLUE of course!

When I unwrapped each of the parcels I found an assortment of lovely gifts
There was a pretty table runner and a small zipper bag, a bar of choc, a set of scented draw bags and some ribbon and beads.

They were all so lovely -  so many thanks to Danette who has a blog at the Quiltingchemist.

This is the runner and the little zip bag on my bookcase in my sewing room - the runner looks great with my new growing collection of thimbles.

I have done a few of my applecore blocks - they go together really easily in blocks of 4 after cutting them with my sizzix machine - and now I am starting to join the 4part blocks together to make sure I get a scrappy mix.

I promised to show pics of my new caravan so here are a couple taken inside - its really spacious -and more importantly given the cool spring we are having-  has a great heating system so we stayed  lovely and warm.

The side dinette is just the right size for sewing on with my small sewing machine!!

We had a nice break at the coast and it was  sunny most of the time but is cold again now we are back- but away again in 2 weeks to the Lake District after our Quilt Exhibition so lets hope the real spring arrives by then.
Bye for now

The Happy Camper !

We have our new caravan!  It is really swish and very modern looking so looking forward  to getting away in it soon - as the weather finally seems to be  improving.

I had posted off my Colour Surprise Swap to Jane who wanted GREEN  and she has let me know that she has recieved it and is happy with the items I included so I am relieved.  I always worry that the things  I make are not as good as they could be or my surprises are not very exciting.

I  forgot to take a photo so I hope Jane doesn't mind me posting a copy from her blog.

This was another one of Cheryll at Gonestitchin 's great swops
She is already organsiing the Santa Sack Swop  for this coming Xmas which I love joining in with.

I have made a couple of table runners for my new van using some great free designs from Embroidery Library this weekend and some linen I had saved.

I  also joined a really good weekly mystery embroidery project from the San Francisco Stitch Company - it looks as if it will include some nice embroidery patterns. I missed week one which is a pair of old fashioned spectacles but I can buy it cheaply to catch up. Week 2 is a gorgeous vintage looking tea cup design so I quess the wall hanging just might have a vintage theme to it.!?

I also made a couple of mug rugs from some hexagons I had made after being inpired by the recent blog hop and then  cut out a load of apple core pieces with my new sizzix die - it is so quick and easy.  I used my Indigo Crossing layer cake but added in a few extra vintage reds to add sparkle. This will be a good hand project to take away with me in the caravan.

My other new start is  a clam shell pattern which I have  wanted to do for a while.  It came about as I decided  not to do the Texas Teardrop Quilt as it takes such a lot of fabric. Instead I decided to use  my Rowan/Fassett fabrics for an attempt at a clam shell !!!
I found a pattern on the web for this one which uses a plain white row inbetween and it looked as if it would go well with these fabrics.

BUT after four rows I think this may be one of those which gets picked up and put down regularly as it does not grow very quickly- although it does show the fabrics off !!.

I like to have some handsewing on the go during the summer so that I don't have to spend time in my sewing room at the  but can take it with me and sit in the conservatory or garden.

So not long now to my first quilt exhibition in May  and lots of hand sewing to keep me busy !!

Thanks for visiting

Spring at last!!!

Well it finally seems that spring is on its way - but even I would not be so optimistic to think it will be sunny and warm every day BUT at least we do seem to be getting some sunshine.  So managed to get  a photo of my Jewels quilt on the line. ( by the time it was loaded onto the computer it was dull and cold again!!!)

I have also finally taken a photo of the lovely prize I won from Anthea at QuiltingAntics in the draw at The Earls Court show last month.

It's a lovely box and inside was a gift voucher as well!!! So thanks so much to Anthea - can't wait to spend it when your web site is up and running.

I am posting a photo of all the small items I have managed to finish for our Quilt Exhibition sales table on the 11 th May next month- I enjoyed  making small things like this after struggling with big quilt  projects over the last few months.

This is a small heirloom sewing kit made on the embroidery machine.

I always enjoy Cheryll's swops over on Gone Stitchin.       And joined the Colour swop which is due for posting at the end of April .  I can't show what's in the parcel yet but my swop partner's favourite colour was green - can you tell? I hope she likes everything I have come up with.

I have been playing around with some thread stitching and have produced a series of little people and think they will look good mounted in frames for the next Art Exhibition.   I have not painted for months so need something to exhibit alongwith the felt pictures I made !!!

I  still have to finish off the Granny Square Honey Honey quilt so trying not to start anything new although I have some lovely Moda  and Liberty fabric calling to me from my box and lots of ideas for patterns to use.

bye for now
