Beautiful Blenheim

We had a great time near Oxford on holiday and I wanted to post some photos of the day we spent at Blenheim Palace.  It was a lovely day and we walked for miles around the gardens and estate.

We also spent some time in Oxford itself and my son and girlfriend joined us on the Saturday from London and we had a great trip down the river - during which it poured down for about 10 minutes-drenching us all  and then the sun came out again for the rst of the day!!.

A Raft of Finishes!
Since getting back I have finished my Applecore quilt and just
started a second one in"shabby chic" fabrics which I have had for a while and which will I think make up into a nice softly patterned quilt.

I have also completed all my postcards for the next FabricPostcard Swap so will mail these soon and also finished off the Mug Rug for a swap with this group as well.

I also completed a couple of table runners which are for friends of my Mum's who ordered them after my talk to their group about quilting recently. It went really well and I sold a couple of quilts which was a bonus.
My Mum wants me to repeat it to another of her Ladies Groups but I will need to make up some stock before I arrange it after the summer! Think that some Xmas themed items and embroidered cards will be a good idea.

So after a  good run of getting things finished off I ground to a halt on Saturday when my Brother machine stopped working !!!   An error message and a quick phone call to the shop where I bought it from resulted in it being returned to Brother for attention.  It was picked up on Monday at 5pm and it is being returned today (Thursday) by courier so that is very impressive and I am relieved it will be back so soon.   I have my small Janome as back up but I get used to all the "bells and whistles" on the Brother.

AND  then I went down with a Kidney infection yesterday ( something I am prone to get) so sitting watching the tennis at Wimbledon and looking for  possible new projects looks like being the best way to spend the next couple of days. I am considering Esther Aliu's new Block of the Month which launches on Friday - the Love Entwined  marriage quilt she has designed from a vintage original  and also might start a SWOON quilt  as I recieved an order from Jessica at SEWANDQUILT who has some wonderful fabrics - of some lovely  1930 inspired fat quarters which will be ideal for this.

So lets hope the weather stays good and the applecore quilt will keep me busy while Wimbledon is on the TV.

bye for now

  3. Too many "things" to comment on individually Pauline... but they are ALL wonderful... except the kidney infection of course. I remember visiting the castle and it's wonderful gardens! :)
