Happy SUnny Easter!!!

Welcome everyone and I hope it is warmer and sunnier wherever you are!!!  We have had the coldest March I can remember and its still not really any warmer but it looks a sif we might get some  brighter weather from today.

It has meant lots of time in the sewing room since we got back from London BUT what a surprise I had when I saw that I had won a lovely sewing box  in a draw on the QUILTING ANTICS stall at the KNitting & Stitching show.

Anita is a lovely person who has just started a new quilting shop in Settle in the Yorkshire Dales and is soon to have a web site selling her wonderful fabrics.

She visited our quilt group a few months back as she was just setting up and she is so enthusiastic and has already arranged workshops in her new premises and even has some retreats planned near Settle with somegreat quilters such as Ferret.
So I am hoping I will be able to get up there later this year.  She is sending the box so I will post a pic when it arrives.

I have been free motion quilting like mad these last few days and finished off a Scrappy String quilt which I think will go to Project Linus and have done most of my JEWELS quilt which has been on the go awhile and is my version of a pattern  from Sue Daley's book New English paper Piercing using Rowan fabric from Liberty's. Just need to do the borders and bind it. I tried to do a Jesters Hat pattern instead of just a general stippling design and it adds to the overall look.

I have just signed up for my first quilt along with Vicki at and the Texas Tear Drop quilt.

I fell for this when  I first saw it on the web and I'm looking forward to following along with it on her blog.  I intend using  fabric from my collection of Kaffe Fassett fabrics and it will suit such bright colours. You can see the details  of the quilt along  by clicking on the button on the right.

I have also finished off a series of felt pictures which I intend to mount in small frams for an exhibition coming up in May.  I have not done any painting recently but enjoy making felt so thought these felt minitures might sell.

AND Finally ---- a couple of postcards I have done after I picked up a new book in London on Zentangle!

Found it quite relaxing to sit and doodle designs onto fabric and then machine over with black thread - might try colouring them with wax crayons as well.

Lots to do and decisions to make !!!

bye for now

Stitch me Up Embroidery Blog Hop

I  joined the Stitch me up Embroidery blog hop which was an opportunity to learn some new stitches  and have a go at  8 lovely embroidery patterns. I also sent for the threads as well to complete the patterns.

I only managed to complete one of them - but I do intend to do the red work ones as well as soon as I find time over the next few weeks.
I made a padded cover for my Kindle as even though it has a leather cover I felt it needed some extra protection for when we are on holiday.

There are lots of other blogs to visit so have a look at all the great embroidery that has been done.

Blog Hop Party

Thank-you to Mishka at Quilting Gallery for hosting the Beat the WinterBlues Blog Hop Give away. I was intending to offer only the one give away but I was so over whelmed by all the wonderful comments about my quilts and all my new followers that I decided to add in a 2nd winner's surprise package.

So The Winner of the package posted on my blog is. ......PippaP  at Pippa's Patch    And the second surprise giveaway was won by Gayle who blogs at The Middle Sister.

Congratulations to you both and I hope you enjoy the gifts which are now in the post. .

It was great to recieve such positive feedback and I totalled up the comments and the Dresden on the Line was the most popular follwed by Bali Pops. So thanks to everyone who left a comment and also hello to all my new followers.

I have spent today making a batch of fabric postcards for the next postcard swap, using my new Sizzix machine. I decided after making a couple of one-offs that I would try to make a series, as once I had prepared the fabric it was easy to cut lots of shapes at the same time.  They need a bit of quilting and the edges finishing but I am pleased with them.

I also bought a crochet kit from Janie Crow at the show in London and quickly made this last night.  Its a lovely little pattern and I intend to make some more for Easter gifts.

I bought some extra fabric in London to add to the new Indigo Crossing Moda Layer Cake I bought recently so need to get the Granny Sqare finished before I start the new one. There are a couple of patterns on the Moda Bake Shop I think I will use.
Its good to be back even though it was a lovely weekend away !!

Liberty's in London

what a great response to my give away  I  will make the draw on Sunday on our return from London - going to Knitting &Stiching show tomorrow.  But thought you all might like to see pics of Liberty's as there is a lot of imterest in their fabric at the moment. It's such a treat to go there and just wander around-but soon tempted to buy a couple of treats!
