February finishes!

Lots of pictures of what I've been up to since my  last post.

I was a WINNER!!!

I won my first giveaway EVER!!!!   - from  Steffi's Candy Quilts who had a giveaway on reaching her 300th  follower. The parcel arrived very quickly as it only came from  Germany. It is a lovely little bag made from some great fabric from SewmamaSew  plus a pack of charm squares and it really made my day. The writing on the fabric is just so great.  Thanks Steffi for such a great prize.

I will probably use the charm squares to make some little hexagons to applique on small bags or even copy Steffi's  idea and use them as an insert.

I had another productive day at my quilt group last week and put together a disappearing 9 patch using a lovely charm pack from Moda using a Kate Spain line called Terrain.

I hope to get it layered and  finish it this week.
I also put together the panels for the embroidered quilt I showed in my last post but still need to finish the centre panel . That will mean I have FOUR quilts waiting to be quilted so will have to get myself into gear and get them done for the Exhibition in May.

My crocheting is coming along in the evening while watching TV although I now have two blankets on the go -One is a plain small hexagon and the second is a South African Flower motif which is quite dramatic with the navy edging. I intend these to be my on-going portable  projects  once we start going off in the caravan  when the it gets a bit warmer after Easter.

My other finish is a set of place mats made from a panel I made a couple of years ago from a Carol Doak pattern which I couldn't decide what to do with and wasn't quite sure about the colours I had used BUT ....
I cut it up, added  a border to one side  and free motion quilted the pieces and they make a nice set of place mats .

The success of  these has resulted in me buying  Easy Stash Quilts off  Amazon to do some more foundation piercing.

Also made this bag which has paper pierced shapes appliqued onto the front and this plus the place mats will  also be for the Quilt Exhibition we are having in May

I have joined the Stitch Me Up Blog Hop (see the button on my blog at the side)  and I need to get a move on with getting some of the little stitcheries finished before the 21st March which is my day on the blog hop- so come back then and see what I have been doing.
I bought  the threads  from  Jane at Jane's Fabric and Quilts who is leading the blog hop over on Sewwequilt.blogspot . These are Presencia  threads which I have not seen before in the UK but are really nice to work with.

I have also bought another Craftsy course -   Pictorial Quilting Techniques with Wendy Butler Berns
as I was so impressed with the first one I got and their courses  were on sale this week - so too good an opportunity to miss!!!
I can't wait to start this one as I have taken a peek and there are some lovely ideas for quilts made from photographs.

Thanks for stopping by
