Back from our trip to the Lake District to find a parcel waiting from Linda at Sewnicely with a min quilt and some gifts from Ireland. Its is a lovely quilt and I want to hang it in my sewing room using my new mini quilt hanger which I manged to find on the internet. I have long admired some of the hangers I have seen people in the USA and Australia have to display their quilts on and found a UK supplier at last.!
We are having some awful weather in the UK BUT we were very lucky to get some fine days on our holiday and had a great day out at Sizergh Castle and gardens- even saw some blue sky!
I think this might make a nice art quilt.
I've not had much time to do much sewing but did make this sweet little cup and saucer from a new pattern from Patchwork Pottery. I have admired her work for a while and she has just released this pattern so couldn't resist. I tried it out and intend to make some more as they will make lovely Xmas gifts filled with sweets or soaps.
I did enter the competiton at Quilting Gallery this week for embroidered quilts with my Black Rose quilt so if you pop over there there might still be time left to vote.!
I've just had a request to make another very large embroidered quilt so that will be a major task over the next few months - it is to fit a 6 foot wide bed and it will also have two matching pillow shams. So quite a project !!
Now that all the "jubilation" has died down and family have departed home it is almost time to head off for a short trip to the Lake District. We have had such a mix of weather I just hope we are lucky and get some warm sunshine. As a consequence of all the rain I have spent a lot of time finishing off a few things and doing a lot of hand work in front of the TV! I finished off the small quilt from Joane at Thread Head and its just right for a topper on a small bookcase.
I have finished the small lap quilt from Carolyn Foster's book Utility Quilts - I might make some others from this book as I enjoyed the big stitch quilting.
I have started making Dresden Fans with a fabric roll I picked up at the Scottish Quilt Show and its coming along nicely.
My other hand project is another pattern from Sue Daly's book "English Piercing". I'm using some Rowan and Kaffee Fassett fabrics so that its quite a lot brighter than in the book but I have been admiring the "Swoon" blocks for a while but these are much simpler as they are paper-pierced and nice and portable. So hope to get a few more done while we are on holiday.
I have also been busy with items for my partner in Cheryll's Santa Sack swop - but can't show what I have made as my partner might see them! But Cheryll is putting some pics on the site if you want a peek!
